Check your home for radon.
The first thing you can do in your fight against radon is to have your home tested. Hire a radon measurement company or purchase a DIY kit from your local hardware store. Testing your home for radon is easy & inexpensive. It is the simplest way to take action against Radon.
Install a radon mitigation system.
Another great step you can take during Radon Action Month is to have your home mitigated. You should install an active mitigation system in your home if your test levels come back higher than 4.0 pCi/L. If your levels come back lower, you always have the option to install a passive system.
Raise awareness about radon.
Radon causes over 21,000 lung cancer deaths in the United States each year. Radon exposure is easily preventable if you know the correct actions to take. Sadly, many people are not aware of the risks associated with radon. Be an advocate in your community.
